The Orange County Stormwater Program has published the first State of the Environment Reportfor the Santa Ana Region. This report represents our commitment to periodically present a comprehensive picture of the quality of Orange County’s creeks, rivers, bays and coastal waters and the actions being taken by the Orange County Stormwater Program (the Program) to protect and restore them.
Surfer Health Study Launched
On January 15, the Southern California Coastal Water Research Project (SCCWRP) and UC Berkeley, in collaboration with the Surfrider Foundation, kicked off the nation’s first epidemiology study to examine health effects in surfers following storm events. Surfers who enroll will be asked to report any health symptoms using an android (Galaxy) or IOS (iphone) app currently available through GooglePlay and iTunes. The app, study brochure, FAQs, and hotline are available on the study website.
