A Guide to Community Based Habitat Restoration

Digging In: A Guide to Community-Based Habitat Restoration gives local volunteers, concerned citizens, and grassroots organizations the tools and information they need to get a habitat restoration program up and running. Attendants receive a free copy of Digging In and a networking contact list. The basics of restoration, including the development of simple coastal restoration projects and community engagement strategies-- as well as common pitfalls-- will be discussed.
Thursday, May 14, from 1pm to 5pm. Restoration site tour will follow workshop.
The conference room at the City of Long Beach District 3 Field Office, 340 Nieto Avenue Long Beach, California 90814. This office is adjacent to the Colorado Lagoon Restoration area.
“This guide is written as the spring-board to launch motivated individuals towards developing successful volunteer-based coastal restoration projects,” says author Kristina Finstad. “Amazing work can be done with the support of your community; it's just a matter of understanding the basics, which Digging In presents with an easy-to-read, easy-to-implement format. In the end, you'll find you've restored more than just the land, you restore yourself in the process.”
